Golay takes over SKM leadership; CEC passes resolutions to woo voters

GANGTOK, 09 Jan: Some strong resolutions were taken by the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha today in their Central Executive body meeting today held at the party headquarters, at Tadong. The meeting was chaired by the party leader, PS Golay and was also attended by the working president of the party, Bharati Sharma.
A SKM press release issued by its general secretary [publicity], MN Dahal informs that today’s meeting thoroughly discussed the matter of president ship of the party; in this regard SKM general secretary, MK Subba proposed the name of PS Golay as president as this was the popular demand; this was unanimously passed by the party members present. The same was accepted by PS Golay. The press release informs that while accepting the proposal Mr. Golay said he would deliver his presidential address during the Party Foundation Day on 04 February during which he would also take the oath of office in the presence of the people.
Several resolutions were passed at the meeting today informs the press release. It was resolved by the SKM to constitute a strong Lokayukta to eradicate corruption from the state and to punish the guilty. This was in light of the heavy burden of debt under which Sikkim is believed to be.  Secondly it was resolved by the SKM leadership to provide free electricity to rural Sikkim and to modernize the electricity transmission and distribution lines and transformers to ensure uninterrupted power supply even during storms and heavy rainfall. Furthermore it was resolved to provide free water supply to all in the state and to take water supply to every rural corner of the state. It was alleged that the ruling government had failed to provide water supply to many villages and bazaars in the state.
In the matter of employment it was resolved to provide 90% of jobs to local in power projects and pharma companies in the state. Furthermore, it was resolved that should SKM form the government it would provide employment to 30,000 unemployed youth within the first 100 days of government. All MR and WC employees would be regularized with arrears within 5 years. It would also regularize all adhoc teachers without conditions. It was resolved that the party would take strong action to protect the Article 371F for the people of Sikkim and to provide world class health service and free medicines to the people.
It was also resolved to provide every student with uniforms and stationary items including text books at the time of reopening of the schools in the month of February.
While addressing the meeting, Mr Golay encouraged the party workers to fight against the autocratic government and get ready for the upcoming elections. He added that the movement of the party was not against Pawan Chamling in person but against the corrupt system in the state generated by him. He alleged that the SDF party did not have any policy, principle and programme but only had the money to win the vote of the people.
