Governor and CM extend Dusshera and Dasain greetings

GANGTOK, 10 Oct: The Governor and Chief Minister have extended Dasain and Dusshera greetings to the people of Sikkim.
Governor Shriniwas Patil and Mrs. Rajanidevi Patil have extended warm greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of Durga Puja and Dasain (Dusshera).
In his message, the Governor conveys: “The celebration of Durga Puja marks the victory of Goddess Durga over evil Mahishasura, and Dasain (Dusshera) marks the victory of Lord Rama over evil Ravana; both symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
The Nepali Dasain celebration exhibits a unique and beautiful tradition of honouring elders in the family and relations by seeking their blessings in the form of tika by Sikkim’s Nepali community. The celebration of Durga Puja and Dasain (Dusshera) fosters love, respect and communal harmony in society.
May this celebration of Durga Puja and Dasain (Dusshera) bestow protection, happiness and prosperity to the entire people of Sikkim.”
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Mrs. Tika Maya Chamling have extended their best wishes, peace and prosperity to the people of Sikkim.
The Chief Minister in his message has also expressed that the festival of Dushera signifies and reinforces the eternal message of triumph of good over evil and the prevalence of truth above all. This festival which is celebrated all over the country in various forms be an inspiration for us to follow the path of righteousness.
