32 clear NET from Sikkim

GANGTOK, 22 Oct: Thirty-two of the around 550 candidates who took the UGC NET exam from the Sikkim centre have cleared the exam and are now eligible for lecturership.
The National Education Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts NET every year in June & December for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and to determine eligibility for lecturership for Indian nationals to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research.
The results for the exam held in June earlier this year were declared by UGC on 22 October. Among the 32 successful candidates from the Sikkim centre, 3 have qualified for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and 29 qualified for eligibility for lectureship. Geography and Commerce have the highest number of successful candidates, an SU press release informs.
Sikkim University, the only NET coordinating centre for the state of Sikkim had 617 online registrations for June 2013 UGC NET exam. Out of 617 registered candidates, around 90% appeared for the exam on 30 June 2013, which can be considered a good turnout as compared to other coordinating centres. UGC NET was conducted under the strict supervision of coordinator nominated by the Sikkim University. The representatives of the UGC were also present on the day of exam. Vice-Chancellor of the Sikkim University, Prof. TB Subba and the Registrar KM Deb also visited the exam venue (Sikkim Government College).
The online registration for UGC NET December 2013 exam has already been declared opened by the University Grants Commission.
