GANGTOK, 29 June: Former MLA Bhojraj Rai and his colleagues, speaking in support of the dissident SDF MLA, PS Tamang [Golay], termed his suspension from the last day of the Assembly Session as “unfortunate and illegal”.
Mr Rai alleged “biased” action by the Speaker, before the session even began as “wrong”.
They now plan collect all relevant documents [related to Mr. Tamang’s suspension] and then submit their protest/ complaint letters challenging the move with the Governor, Lok Sabha Speaker and the President.
Mr. Rai today questioned why only Mr. Tamang was singled out for punishment even though others members of the House had raised a ruckus and heckled Mr. Tamang during his address on the third day of the Budget Session.
The dissident MLA’s supporters also challenged the SDF party president, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, to expel Mr Tamang from the party in view of his confrontation with the Leader of the House and in the Legislative Assembly.
