Rhenock girl Sushma Dahal wins Sur Sangam


JORETHANG, 04 Mar: The grand finale of Sur Sangam, a state-level singing competition was one of the mega events of the two-day 20th foundation day celebration of the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front party at Jorethang, South Sikkim. After various rounds, the top 5 singers who were shortlisted for the final round gave their performances before the panel of judges in the grand finale organized during the evening.
Sushma Dahal of Rhenock, East Sikkim won the Sur Sangam competition and was awarded the cash prize of Rs. 1.50 lakh while Bijay Tamang of Temi-Namphing and Meghraj Sharma of Panihouse, Gangtok were adjudged 2nd and 3rd and awarded cash prizes of Rs. 1 lakh and Rs 50,000, respectively.
Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, KT Gyaltsen was present as the chief guest of the function which was also attended by area MLA, Zoom Salghari constituency, Madan Cintury, Ministers RB Subba, CB Karki and other SDF party leaders.
Along with cash awards to the top three winners, the organizing committee also handed over certificates to top 30, top 20 and top 10 finalists of this state-level singing competition.
Another event of the SDF day celebration was the state-level quiz competition for the SDF party youth which was held on 03 March as part of the youth convention.
