CM returns, lauds State’s efforts in furthering tourism


GANGTOK, 01 Mar [IPR]: The Chief Minister of Sikkim Pawan Chamling was accorded a warm welcome on reaching Bagdogra Airport by the Minister Tourism and Civil Aviation, Bhim Dhungel, today.
Addressing the press at the airport, the Chief Minister lauded the efforts put in by the entire state government including the people at large for the development of tourism in the state. Further he expressed the need to work much harder to further develop tourism potential of the state.
He said that the youth will be further motivated to take up tourism sector as an alternative profession. Along with the tourism sector allied activities like agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry etc will also be given priority which has direct impact on the economic activity of the people, the Chief Minister said.
He also gave a positive note on working with the West Bengal Government for the development of tourism in the region. The Chief Minister was also optimistic about the railway project connecting Sikkim with the rest of the country.
