GANGTOK, 13 Feb: Major Gen V. N. Prasad, GOC, 17 Mountain Division called on the Chief Minister of Sikkim Pawan Chamling at his official residence Mintokgang on 13 February.
The GOC during the meeting informed the Chief Minister about the various programmes being organized by the army in coordination with the civilian organizations; in this regard he further informed the chief minister about the plans of organising a musical carnival during the month of April to woo back tourists to Sikkim, which is the thrust area of the state. He also solicited cooperation and coordination from the State Government for the functioning of the army in the state.
During the meeting the Chief Minister assured GOC that the state government will work with all the cooperation and coordination with the Army for the betterment of the state and its people. He also assured him all help form the state government to provide necessary arrangements required by the army for its smooth functioning.
