Rioting charges framed against 12 booked for stone-pelting SDF supporters at Soreong

UPDATE: WEST SIKKIM FLARE UP; SITUATION NORMALISES IN DISTURBED DISTRICT
GANGTOK, 07 Sept: West Sikkim was disturbed following the savage assault by three unidentified persons on Dr. Subash Tamang of the Dentam Public Health Centre. However, with the district police on high alert and putting in every effort to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control, normalcy returned to the district today and no untoward incidents were reported. Also today, the West District police arrested 12 persons on charges of rioting, unlawful assembly and mischief with the intent to cause damage. The 12 are alleged to be involved in the stone pelting incident reported from Soreong last evening in which SDF supporters returning from an SDF rally were injured.
SP West, R Ranjan, when contacted, informed that all the arrested youth had been named in the FIR filed by one Sharmila Gurung who had suffered injuries in the stone pelting incident.
Ms. Gurung has also reported that her house at Dentam was also pelted with stones on 05 Sept, the day when the Dentam PHC MO was attacked and a protest rally taken out by dissident SDF MLA, PS Tamang, through the town. The SDF rally the next day was taken out in protest against insinuations that the party was involved in the attack on the MO and was led by the area MLA Chandra Maya Subba and former Minister, SB Subedi.
The arrested 12 are: Topzang Bhutia, Mani Kr Pradhan, Birkha Man Subba, Dikendra Kharka, Tek Man Subba, Laku Bhutia, Ashok Pradhan, Mahendra Pradhan, Birendra Subba, Khituk Bhutia, Manorath Dahal and Kharkey Subedi.
They were picked by the police from in and around Dentam, it is informed.
On the matter of the 3 unidentified persons who had attacked the Doctor and nurses at the Dentam PHC on Monday morning, the SP West stated that a massive manhunt has been launched to trace them and would continue till they were nabbed. 
Apart from the arrests today, the West District remained peaceful with no untoward incidents reported. The SP and the DC both stated that the situation saw a return to normalcy with no incident or breach of peace. It is also informed that IRBn personnel have been engaged to patrol the area to ensure that peace and normalcy prevailed.
