GANGTOK, 20 Jan: Governor Shriniwas Patil and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling have extended greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of Sonam Lochar, the Tamang New Year, which falls on 21 January, Wednesday.
Governor Shriniwas Patil and the First Lady Smt. Rajanidevi Patil have extended warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Sikkim.
In his message, the Governor has said, “The festival of Sonam Lhochar celebrated by our Tamang brethren reaffirms our faith in almighty as we worship and offer fresh harvests seeking protection and safety of our fellow beings. This occasion also marks the New Year symbolising new hope and beginning.
May this propitious occasion bring prosperity, harmony and happiness to all Sikkimese”.
Similarly, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Smt Tika Maya Chamling have also extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people. In his greetings, the Chief Minister has wished peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of Sikkim.
