Dikchu Drivers say no to littering from moving cars


MANGAN, 02 Sept: The members of Dikchu Drivers Association have decided to undertake an awareness drive to curb littering by passengers. A meeting was convened on Monday under the chairmanship of president, Arjun Rai and advisor, Jigmee Tongden Lepcha where Mr. Rai informed that garbage thrown from moving cars is a major problem. He added that the drivers of the vehicles are responsible for their passengers' actions.
He advised drivers to dissuade passengers from throwing garbage from moving vehicles. All the members of Dikchu Drivers Association assured that they will inform passengers about this before the journey begins.
It was also decided that a disposal bag will be provided to all the members of the association and stickers carrying the message “no littering from moving cars” would also be put up on all vehicles of Dikchu area.
The meeting further discussed the celebration of the upcoming Bishwakarma Puja. The puja celebration will have rendition of bhajan, Folk dance, and Song competition.
