Milan Sangh to replace Md Sporting in Governor’s Gold Cup

GANGTOK, 15 Nov: Mohammedan Sporting Club of Kolkata will be replaced by another I-League team, Milan Sangh of Kalighat in the quarterfinal match of the ongoing 34th All India Governor's Gold Cup Football Tournament to be played against Nepal National Youth XI on 17 November.
In a press release, Sikkim Football Association general secretary Menla Ethenpa informs that despite confirming their participation, Md. Sporting Club conveyed its inability to continue in the Governor’s Gold Cup due to their Kolkata League and I-League commitments as well as monetary consideration. The West Bengal club has also stated that their parent body has denied them the permission to leave Kolkata. Earlier, they had confirmed their participation, he states.
“Their revised monetary demand as quoted by them are Rs.6 (six) Lakhs plus Kolkata / Bagdogra / Kolkata flight tickets (approximately another 2(two) Lakhs and Innova Cars for the team sector Bagdogra / Gangtok / Bagdogra plus hotel accommodation for 25 persons in a three star hotel, two days before the first match and one day after the last match”, informs Mr Ethenpa.
Since, SFA could not afford to bring Md. Sporting Club, Kolkata by paying such an exorbitant rate, the executive committee of Sikkim FA decided to replace Md. Sporting Club with another I-League team Milan Sangh, Kalighat, he further informs.
