Fire razes two-room structure in Dzongu

MANGAN, 11 Nov: A two-room structure was gutted by fire here at Lingdong in Upper Dzongu, North Sikkim on Friday at around 9.30 p.m.  Pemba Tshering Lepcha had rented out two rooms adjoining his house to Ram Bdr Limboo and Raj Kr Rai who are working in the area for the past few years.
The wooden structures were completely destroyed in the fire. The source of the fire might have been the firewood stocked in the house, it is learnt.
North Zilla Adhyaksha Anguli Lepcha along with the ward Panchayat, Norgay Lepcha and youth of the village also visited the spot and provided the affected families temporary shelter and food.
It was also informed that the tenant Ram Bdr Limboo has suffered losses amounting to Rs.1.70 lakh while Raj Kr Rai lost property worth Rs. 2.50 lakh  (including cash, household items and jewellery items).
