CHIEF SECRETARY VISITS RAJYA SAINIK BOARD War Memorial proposed

GANGTOK, 26 Sept [IPR]: The Chief Secretary, R Ongmu along with Secretary, Home Department, MG Kiran, Secretary, Buildings Department, MB Gurung and a host of engineers and architects from both Building and UD&HD departments visited the office of Rajya Sainik Board, just below General Post office here in the capital, this afternoon.
The Chief Secretary was received and accorded a warm welcome by the Secretary Rajya Sainik Board Retd Colonel, DN Bhutia along with the other officials of the board.
The Rajya Sainik Board wants a Sainik Guest House and new office for Rajya and Zilla Sainik Board to be constructed in the area. The infrastructure there is an old one and the Board wanted a new office and a guest house there with the help of the government.
In this regard the board and the officials wanted to inform the government and get the said premises constructed with the help of the government.
During her visit the Chief Secretary inspected all the old buildings situated at the premises and also proposed to have a War Memorial in the compound of the Rajya Sainik Board. She directed the concerned department to prepare a blue print of the area in a holistic way incorporating the guest house, war memorial and landscaping of the area and submit it to the government by mid-October. She assured the board that the government will give a positive response to the request made by the Board.
During her visit, the CS was also presented with her portrait sketched by one of the members of the board as a token of appreciation.
