Case of fraud and cheating filed against Punjab based firm in West Sikkim

GANGTOK, 12 Mar: A case of fraud and cheating has been registered against a Punjab based firm, Shivalik Laboratories in West Sikkim. The case has been filed by proprietor of a Hotel in Pelling, West Sikkim, Ugen Chopel with the Gyalshing police.
As per the complaint, a representative of the accused firm, Sanjiv Kumar Sharma had approached Ugen Chopel a year ago, in March 2011 with a proposal of assembling, supplying and commissioning of a sewage treatment plant; this was for the upcoming resort of the complainant at Pelling. There were negotiations on the price of delivery of equipment etc and Mr Chopel then reportedly released a sum of Rs.5 lakh to the bank account of Sanjay Sharma on 15 March, 2011.
However as of yet there has been no supply of the said materials by the firm which kept giving some excuse or the other for the delay in supply. Later it was ascertained by Mr Chopel that Shivalik Laboratories was not a competent enough firm to supply or commission the said materials and equipment.
The complainant has alleged in the complaint that the firm has cheated him and fraudulently misrepresented itself as competent enough to execute the said work.
