Two minor fires in Gangtok

GANGTOK, 20 Jan: Two fire incidents were reported to the Gangtok Fire Station today. Both the incidents have not recorded any serious loss and were brought under control in the initial stages itself.
The first incident was reported from the STNM Hospital this afternoon, when a small fire started in the hospital’s electrical junction box due to short circuit at around 12:40 PM. However, the hospital staff managed to bring the fire under control with fire extinguishers.
The Gangtok Fire Station Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Prakash Rai, informed that after receiving the fire call, a team immediately reached the spot but the fire had already been brought under control by the hospital staff by then. The Fire Station team properly checked the spot to ensure the fire had been extinguished properly, he added.
Later in the afternoon, a private Wagon R vehicle caught fire in front of the Gangtok Fire Station itself and was also immediately brought under control by firemen.
