Sikkim to host President Mukherjee for second time within six months

GANGTOK, 08 Nov: Sikkim will be hosting the President of India for the second time within six months. All preparations for his two-day visit to the state have been completed.
President Mukherjee is scheduled to arrive in Gangtok on Saturday evening, lighting at Libing helipad from Darjeeling after addressing the 125thanniversary celebrations of North Point School.
In Sikkim, the President will inaugurate the 40thJawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition being held at Epica Garden, Saramsa, from 11 to 16 November.
While speaking to NOW!, Chief Secretary Rinchen Ongmu said that Sikkim was lucky to host the President for the second time within six months.
All the formalities and security measures have been put in place on the way to Raj Bhawan, Epica Garden and back to Army helipad. The President is scheduled to leave for New Delhi on 11 November. Special Protection Group [SPG] and Indian Army have also reviewed the security measures, it is informed.
The state police conducted a dry run this evening from Epica Garden to Raj Bhawan and have deployed adequate security along the national highway.
Governor Shrinivas Dadasaheb Patil, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, Speaker KT Gyaltsen along with the Cabinet ministers and MLAs, Chief Secretary and DGP will receive the President here at Army Helipad at Libing.
