Greeting from Sikkim University!
This refers to the news item entitled “VC’s extravagance, if curtailed, could have sponsored free education at Sikkim University, students contend” published in your esteemed newspaper Sikkim NOW! dated 3rd July 2012. We consider that your newspaper has been playing a pivotal role in the upbringing and growth of this new University. We also deeply appreciate the role of local press and media in the healthy nurturing of this University at its formative stage.
However, we would like to put forward that the contents of the above news item are all baseless allegations that possible done to malign the reputation of this new University. In the past also we have noticed that some of the news items about Sikkim University published in your esteemed newspaper have had no truths and totally one-sided and biased.
We would therefore like to appeal to you that henceforth while publishing any news item related to the University, you may please ensure that the contents are based on facts and truth. We also feel that the professional ethics in such a reputed newspaper like yours would demand cross checking with the alleged party at the basic facts and truths.
