HC acquits Bhandari on disproportionate assets case

GANGTOK, 09 Aug: Mr. Bhandari also won an acquittal from the High Court today in a case of disproportionate assets booked against him by the CBI and held up by the trial court in May 2007. This case was the first CBI case against Mr. Bhandari in which he was convicted and had been awarded a one month sentence by the Special Judge, Prevention of Corruption Act, East and North Sikkim. The High Court of Sikkim turned down the conviction and acquitted Mr. Bhandari of the charges today. In this case, the CBI had focused on the asset created in the form of Primula Cottage at Church Road, Gangtok.
