GANGTOK, 19 May: A total of 35 companies from within and outside the country will be taking up stalls at the “Sikkim Construction Machinery Tools & Real Estate Expo-2011”, scheduled to get underway at Chintan Bhawan here on Friday.
The three-day expo is being organized by the Sikkim Youth Welfare Association [SYWA] in collaboration with its Siliguri-based event-partner, Sysco Development and Infrastructure Limited [SDIL].
SDIL event manager, Sanjay Singh, informs that such an event is being organized for the first time in the State and that the main aim of the programme was to create awareness among the general public about the latest in the construction sector by way of technology and equipment.
SDIL Director [Operations], Biswajit Bhaumik, in turn informed that although many more materials and resources were available for construction works, most people were not aware of these. The expo, by showcasing these under the same roof, will be generating awareness on these in a much better manner, he said.
Pointing out that since Sikkim falls in a seismic zone, the expo will be focusing of materials and resources which could serve the special requirements here.
Director further informed that the company has come up with a proposal of a chain of hospitals in the country and the first hospital, a 100-bedded facility, will come up in Singtam in Sikkim and another parallel project of super-speciality hospital will be in Siliguri.
The conference was also addressed by the SYWA president, Robin Rai.
