GANGTOK, 21 June [IPR]: The Information & Public Relations Department, in co-ordination with the Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department, organized a plantation drive to mark Paryavaran Mahotsav 2014 on Saturday.
Led by the Secretary IPR, CC Bhutia, and the Director, the event saw full attendance of the officials and staff of the IPR Department. The plantation drive was assisted by a team of the Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department that included the CCF, BK Tiwari, ACFs Dechen Namdol, Yap Tshering, Topgay Tshering and Forest Guard Lakchung Bhutia.
The Director of the Printing and Stationery Department along with the officials and staff of the Department also took part in the drive. Saplings like Thuga, Kasaya, Kalinga, Bauhinia and Hibiscus, etc. were planted in and around the premises of Soochna Bhawan and Printing and Stationery Department.
The plantation drive concluded with a meeting at the conference hall of the Printing and Stationery Department where the Secretary IPR said that planting one sapling is equal to giving birth to one new life.
She also extended her gratitude towards the Forest officials for organizing and assisting the plantation drive.
