GANGTOK, 01 Nov: Councilor from Upper Sichey ward of Gangtok Municipal Corporation, Nilu Chettri, resigned from his post today accusing the ruling SDF government of attempting to divide the state on communal lines.
As per a press release, in his resignation letter addressed to the Gangtok Mayor, Mr. Chettri states that he was resigning on moral grounds, disturbed after watching a VCD released by the SKM against the Chief Minister accusing him of involvement in the circulation of a communally inciting book.
Mr. Chettri had resigned from the SDF’s primary membership in February earlier this year and has aligned with the SKM.
