GANGTOK, 29 Nov: A Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee [SPCC] team recently visited the power project site at Chujachen, Rongli in East Sikkim. An SPCC release informs that the “survey” conducted by the INTUC-Sikkim president Kinley Gyaltsen Bhutia, included advisor RK Bhatt, SPCC general secretary (administration) Rudra Narsing Sakya and general secretary (communication and social media) Doncee Lama, came to know of many problems that workers engaged in the project are facing.
SPCC has alleged that the sub-contractor, Coastal Company, has not been receiving funds in time from the project developers for the past 13 months. Due to this, the labourers, technicians, engineers and others have not been paid on time, it is added.
The sub-contractors have approached Gati repeatedly to release at least 30% of the funds but that has not happened either, the SPCC contends.
The party has called on the State government, SDM and Director Gati Pvt Ltd to look into the matter and ensure that the funds are released within 7 working days.
