MELLI, 30 Mar: The door to door campaign of the SDF in Melli
constituency, under the party candidate Tulshi Devi Rai covered Rolu, Mungrang
and Lungchok on Saturday and reached Sumbuk today, a press release informs.
Five SKM households, after interacting with Ms. Rai, took
down their flags and hoisted SDF flags and pledged allegiance to SDF, the
release states. They claimed that they were “misguided” by SKM supporters and
rejected the SKM as a party governed by vendetta.
While addressing the people, Ms. Rai asserted that the
programmes and policies of the SDF attracted people to it and retained support.
It was this steadfastness to the interests of the people which created a unique
situation where despite having been in government for 20 years, there was no
anti-incumbency factor against the SDF in Sikkim.
