‘Red Fest’ reaches Sang School

GANGTOK, 20 Nov: After Tashi Namgyal Academy, the ‘Red Fest’, initiated by the Sikkim State AIDS Control Society, reached Sang Senior Secondary School in East Sikkim on 19 Nov. A press release informs that the event saw active participation from around three hundred students.
The endeavor titled ‘Positive Intervention’ is an attempt by SSACS to disseminate messages on HIV & AIDS among school students. The intervention uses knowledge sessions, interactive games, quiz competitions, and painting/slogan competitions to engage students and educate them on aspects of HIV & AIDS.
At the end of the two-and-half hour intervention, the Principal handed over prizes and certificates to the participating students, the release informs. Later, addressing the gathering, the Principal endorsed the initiative taken by SSACS to reach out to school students through the ‘Red Fest’.
He maintained that knowledge is the best weapon to tackle the growing issue of HIV & AIDS, and urged the students to capitalize on any initiative targeted to educate them, according to the release. He complimented the effort put in by members of the Red Ribbon Club in his school, and mentioned the special role of its nodal teacher, A. Mishra.
The Principal also informed that the school will organize a one-day Blood Donation Camp at the school campus on 26th November, in which 90 individuals, both students and teachers, will voluntarily donate blood, the release informs.
The next venue for the ‘Positive Intervention’ is Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School, Gangtok, on 21 November.
