41 complete year-long cutting and stitching training

GANGTOK, 12 Aug: The first convocation of the year-long training course in Cutting & Stitching at Namchi Livelihood School under State Institute of Capacity Building [SICB], Karfectar was held at the School premises Tharpu, Namchi on 11 August 2014. The event was hosted in association with SICB and its service partner Nayuma Women’s Cooperative Society, Gangtok.
As per a press release, advisor to PHE department, Binod Rai was present as the chief guest in the function where the 41 students were given certificates and mark sheets. A sewing machine each was distributed to the passed out trainees to start their own venture. 10 students have been given placement at Nayuma Women’s Cooperative Society Gangtok, as per their preference.
The outgoing students expressed their gratitude towards the Chief Minister and SICB. The students shared their experiences and some even recited poems they had composed about the Livelihood school. Some of the students expressed their desire to start a cooperative society in Namchi and requested for assistance for the same.
Chief Administrator of SICB, SD Dhakal requested the Advisor, PHE department  to arrange for a shop at Namchi Bazaar to enable the proposed society to function. He also appealed to different government departments to allot work to these cooperative societies.
The chief guest, Mr. Rai advised the students to take advantage of the training availed from the Livelihood School to earn a livelihood. He highlighted the steps taken by the State Government to train unemployed educated youth, particularly the under privileged through the livelihood schools.
Deputy Registrar Cooperation Department, Tenzing Gelay, also addressed the gathering. Earlier Deputy Director SICB, Ranjan Rai gave the welcome speech.
