Give us 10 more years and Sikkim will become the best in the world: Chamling
GANGTOK, 06 Apr: Sikkim Democratic Front president, Pawan Chamling, addressed the people of Gangtok, Arithang and Upper Tadong constituencies on Saturday at a campaign meeting organized at the private parking ground near Tharkurbari complex. Highlighting the achievements of the SDF government till date, he stressed on the need for the people of the state to accept and analyse this and decide their vote accordingly.
“People have to decide which party will lead the state towards continued development,” said Mr. Chamling, adding that people need to understand and believe that the SDF government has fulfilled the basic needs of every person in the state. The SDF government has provided the best services, facilities, treatment and infrastructures to the people of Sikkim, he said.
He said that Sikkim fares far better than other states and those who fail to see this are the ones who remain dissatisfied. “Just give us 10 more years and we will make Sikkim the best in the whole world, even better than Switzerland and Singapore,” he assured.
Mr. Chamling assured to fulfill all demands of the three constituencies. He announced that the issue of apartment ownership of the business community would be resolved, Deorali-Zero Point road to come up as Fashion Street, amusement parks, health clubs, ropeway and circular road in Gangtok.
He shared that the SDF party has plans to provide state bonus to the people of Sikkim by making Sikkim a surplus budget state. With the commencement of all power projects, Sikkim will become the richest state and will earn revenue to run the state for another 100 years, said Mr. Chamling. He also announced that Sikkim will be the first Eco-friendly State of India.
Stating that there are some anti-development elements who are protesting against hydro power projects and industrialization, he said, “These sections should be able to suggest real alternatives if they don’t want power projects and industries. But they do not have any programmes, policies, vision or ideology to take Sikkim ahead”.
Mr. Chamling further stated that there has been unrest in the state since the opening of a new political party in the state about a year ago. “They are trying to create political terror in the state”, he said.
Addressing members of the business community, Mr. Chamling stated that the SDF government has given respect, security and peaceful environment to businessmen in the state. While making announcements for the business community, he assured that the coming government would continuously work for them.
Candidates of Upper Tadong, Bhaskar Basnet, Gangtok, Hishey Lachungpa and Arithang, Uday Lama also addressed the gathering.
