Cabbie arrested for rash driving

GANGTOK, 13 Dec: Gyalshing police arrested a taxi driver [SK-04J-0266] Ghanshyam Chettri on 12 December for rash and negligent driving and later released him on bail. The arrest was made on the complaint of Pema Choden Lepcha, resident of Gangyap, West Sikkim. As per the complainant, on 12 December around 3.30 p.m. the above said vehicle with eight passengers was going towards Gangyap from Tashiding Bazaar. On reaching Yoksum Road, the vehicle skidded back on an uphill road and fell into a drain. The occupants sustained some minor injuries.
The Gyalshing police have seized the documents and the vehicle. A case under section 279/ 337/ 338 [rash driving or driving on a public way, causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others and causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others] of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the driver at the Gyalshing Police Station.
