GANGTOK, 01 Dec: Three-day advanced training on decorative candle making conducted under Capacity Building Programme of Integrated Watershed Management Programme I & III, East District by State Level Nodal Agency, Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department concluded on Saturday at Namchi, South Sikkim.
A press release informs that the training was conducted by Smita Rai and group of Namchi Designer Candles. Ten members of different Self Help Groups (SHGs) from Samdong and 5th Mile, Kyongnosla villages participated in the training.
The SHGs had been given basic training on decorative candle making under IWMP during the month of July & August 2013. To further upgrade the skills of the progressive SHGs this advanced training was conducted in collaboration with Namchi Designer Candles, the release mentions. The training was organized with an objective to create an opportunity for sustainable livelihood of the SHGs of different villages.
