Literary celebration at NPS

GANGTOK, 11 Nov: Namchi Public School, in collaboration with National Book Trust and Cinedarbaar Welfare Society, organised a Literary Festival at the school today.
A press release from the school informs that the main attraction of the event was Dastangoi, the “lost art of Urdu storytelling, and a creative writing competition on “Folklores from the Mountains”.
Students from NPS along with the students from Govt. Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Namchi, New Light Academy, Namchi and Tendong Educational Institute, Namchi, took part in the festival.
Manu Sikender Dhingra and Nadeem Shah from Delhi, performed Dastangoi. They enthralled the audience with a stupendous performance using the ancient Urdu tradition of Storytelling, the release informs.
This Literary celebration was dedicated to the children and youth of Sikkim to encourage book reading habits, develop creative writing skills and to promote local culture and folklores to the outside world.
