The state government of Sikkim has doubled the financial assistance provided to World War II veterans and their widows. This financial grant is for non-pensioners who number around 164 in Sikkim - 56 non-pensioners and 108 widows of non-pensioner WWII vets.
In a Gazette Notification published on 06 October, the State government increased the amount of financial assistance for WW II veterans or their widows to Rs 6,000 per month from the earlier Rs 3,000 per month.
As per the notification, the revised grant amount will come into force from 01 September 2015.
