GANGTOK, 22 Aug: A 25-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging at Kokalay, East Sikkim on Thursday. The dead body of the deceased has been handed over to the legal guardians after medical autopsy.
A crisis intervention centre intended for suicide prevention throughout the state of Sikkim has been set up at Police Control Room, Gangtok for handling distress calls. A dedicated phone number 221152 is installed where all calls will be attended by gazetted officers of the Police department. The Helpline is available 24x7 and supports people who call for themselves or someone they care about.
