GANGTOK, 29 May: Sikkim Entrepreneur Association (SEA) has welcomed the SDF government’s decision to make Sikkim Subject Certificate (SSC) or Certificate of Identification (COI) mandatory for issuance of trade license in rural areas, driving license, permits for taxi/ trucks, hawker’s license and for the enlistment of contractors.
The association has appealed to local entrepreneurs of Sikkim as well as every Sikkimese to support this initiative which seeks to protect the present as well as the future of every Sikkimese, open endless avenues for our educated unemployed Sikkimese and also help ease the growing competition in the business sector, the release mentions.
The association has also applauded the government’s decision not to allow sub-letting of any contractual work as it feels that this initiative would enhance the capabilities and resources of the local contractors which in turn would qualify them to take up numerous higher value contractual works.
SEA has further appealed to the government to implement this decision in letter and in spirit.
The association has also decided to call on the Chief Minister to reiterate the various demands and difficulties faced by the local entrepreneurs.
