Home Ministry constitutes committee to look into concerns of people from NE living elsewhere

GANGTOK, 06 Feb: The Ministry of Home Affairs, North East Division has constituted a committee to look into the various kinds of concerns of persons hailing from the North Eastern states who are living in different parts of the country, especially in the metropolitan areas, and to suggest remedial measures which could be taken by the government.
The committee will be headed by MP Bezbaruah [Retd IAS, Member of North-Eastern Council] as Chairman along with HWT Syeim [Retd IAS], Allen Temshi Jamir [Retd IAS], Tape Bagra [Retd IAS], P Bharat Singh [Retd IAS] as Members and S Saha [Deputy Secretary, MHA] as Member Secretary.
The Chairman of the Committee shall co-opt members, one each from the other North Eastern states and Sikkim as well as one lady member. Robin Hibu [IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, Delhi] will also be in the team of the Ministry of Home Affairs which will assist the Committee.
The Committee will examine the concerns regarding the security of persons from the North Eastern states and other concerns. It will also examine the causes behind the attacks or violence and discrimination against the people from the North East and suggest measures to be taken by the Government to address these concerns. The Committee will also suggest legal remedies for the same.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will provide secretarial assistance and other facilities to the Committee.
Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Robin Hibu has invited people to share their experiences and suggestions with him. People have been requested to share their experiences of problems/discrimination/apathy at metropolitan cities while you visit/stay/interact with different people/government authorities, etc as well as offer suggestions on dealing with such problems.

The suggestions and experiences can be sent via e-mail at robinhibu@gmail.com or on Whatsapp at 9810083486. People have been further requested to discuss the matter with friends so that elaborate suggestions can be recommended to stop any ill-treatment/racist acts to any North Eastern in metropolitan cities. It is not necessary to mention your name when you send your suggestions.
