GANGTOK, 31 Oct: Sadar police has arrested one person for assaulting and stabbing another with a dagger on the night of Diwali.
According to reports the victim, Sonam Lepcha, 35 residing at Chandmari was stabbed by Hari Lall, alias, Kalu Rai, 22, also residing at Chandmari at about 10 pm on 27 October. Both were part of a group which had gone around the same day singing Dewsi. Hari Lall was the person who collected the moneys and later while the group was distributing the amount collected among themselves Sonam is reported to have accused Hari of misusing the money. Later the same night Hari is informed to have gone to Sonam’s house where after a discussion between the two he is reported to have stabbed Sonam in the left side of his stomach with a dagger which he took along. Sonam was evacuated to the STNM hospital while Hari was arrested and the weapon seized.
