GANGTOK, 23 June: ‘Urban Inc.’, a Hip-Hop band of four, all in their early twenties from Sikkim [Thupden Wanchuk Bhutia, Tenzing Lekchola Dorji, Robin Rai and Sunny Norden [DJ/ Music Composer]are all set to fire up with their first album, ‘Rise to the top’. The album packed with ten tracks, features Hip-hop and R&B songs, which will have ‘variations’ of Nepali, Hindi, English and Tibetan touch to it so as to relate these songs to a maximum number of people from all walks of life, inform the group members.
This one of a kind album, they assure, is very unique and the people, especially the youngsters, will be the focus as the songs speak about the 21st century youth, anti- drugs, tackles hard life and conveys the message to be strong and of love-hate relationships, informs the group.

They started their journey from the New Year’s Eve when they performed at Smileland on the invitation of “Dirty Angles”, where they received immense appreciation from the crowd.
A self financed group with little or no sponsors, they further inform that their album’s priority is to send out a message to the youth and is not entirely business oriented. They have however welcomed sponsors for their venture.
‘Should be what you want’, a song by Tenzing Lekchola and Bosing went on air on FM and was a chart buster for many weeks. Sunny Norden [DJ/ Music Composer] has also played at famous places like Someplace Else at Kolkata, as DJ which is said to have brought him into the limelight. Urban Inc. has drawn inspiration from their personal experiences and from hip-hop icons like 2Pac, T.I and other such artists.
Youngsters here have accepted the Hip- Hop culture and have been following artists such as 2PAC, Notorious BIG, Snoop –Dogg, Eminem, Lil wayne, Game, Kanye West, G-UNIT and other such artists. R&B artists like Ne-yo, Chris Brown, Jay Sean, Drake, Usher and other few artists are particularly famous among young Sikkimese. They have not only accepted their culture but have adopted the dressing style and the lingo of these artists too.
The group recorded their album at Psalms Studio and have extended their appreciation to Enochling dong as their mentor, recordist and motivation. Also they have extended their gratitude to Khenrab Wangchuk for motivating them time and again and Christina, Tenzing Zangpo and Niwa Hangma for graciously featuring in their first album. They also thanked “Dirty Angles” for giving them the much needed platform and last but not the least their family and friends, who have been instrumental and supportive in their musical venture, informed the group.
As “World Music Day” was celebrated on 21 June, Urban Inc. featured three songs from the album, along with a host of other artists at MG Marg.
