Sikkim-made Nepali movie, Ishara, to premiere on 07 April

GANGTOK: ‘Ishara’, the debut of popular Nepali film actress, Uma Baby, as a producer, is set for its premiere on 07 April at Vajra Cinema Hall here. Chief Minister Pawan Chamling is scheduled to attend as the chief guest of the premier show being organised by the Arithang Cooperative Society.
This movie, completed on a budget of Rs 70 lakhs, is directed by Sabir Shrestha and primarily features artists from Sikkim, besides some artists from Nepal in lead roles.

The film stars Uttam Pradhan, Kunta Pradhan, Chunnilall Ghimirey, Bishal Chamling, DK Lepcha, Shivani Giri and Sharad Giri among the local artists, and has Rekha Thapa, Bhupichand and Hemant Burathoki from Nepal.
Addressing a press conference today, Ms Baby, who is also in a lead role in the movie, informed that around 90% of the film was shot on location in Sikkim.
She highlighted that this was her debut film as a producer, shooting for which started on 07 April last year.
She shared that the film covers women-specific issues, especially the offensive trend of defaming them through private MMSes and other new mediums which prey on small mistakes and carelessness of the women leading to damaging results.
She informed that the film has tried to reach a message to the women to remain alert against such exploitation.
The film features 5 songs, of which three have been shot in Yumthang.
Ms. Baby also plans to screen the film in Nepal, Malaysia and at different Nepali speaking areas in the country.
“This film is my dream and I am praying it is a success,” she said.
Ms Baby has already done many films as an actress in Nepali, Bhojpuri and Bengali films. She also expressed her gratitude words to the president of Artithang Cooperative Society, Sarita Thapa, for coming forward to organise the premier show of the film.
