Administration geared up for bye-poll

Namchi, 11 Sept [IPR]: Informing the timings for the Poll Day 13 September 2014 as 7 a.m. to 5 p.m, the Returning Officer for the bye elections of Rangang-Yangang Assembly Constituency has apprised that all necessary arrangements has been made for the Poll Day for smooth conduct of polling. It has further been informed that all political party offices lying within 200 metre radius of polling stations will be closed down on the poll day. In addition, any type of canvassing or political activities will be prohibited within 100 meter radius of polling stations. Candidates can set up their election booth outside the 200 metre periphery and these booths must be small and simple.
On the poll day, only three vehicles are allowed to be used by each candidate including one for candidate, one for the election agent and one for the party workers, informed the RO. All these vehicles are required to possess and carry the RO’s vehicle permission. As per Section 171B of Indian Penal Code, any person giving or accepting any gratification in cash or kind during election process, with a view to inducing the person to exercise his electoral right is punishable with imprisonment up to 1 year or with fine or with both. Further, as per Section 171C of Indian Penal Code, any person who threatens any candidate or elector, or any other person, with injury of any kind, is punishable with imprisonment up to one year or with fine or with both.
RO has further informed that dry days have been notified on 12th, 13th and 16th September 2014 by the Excise Department for the entire South District. The Home Department has notified all government offices and institutions including schools, colleges and offices of the PSU’s located within boundaries of 15 Rangang-Yangang shall remain closed on the day of the poll i.e. 13th September 2014. Furthermore, he informed that adequate security arrangements have been made by the District police within the jurisdiction of constituency and one platoon of SSB has been deployed for the security arrangement at strong room located at DAC Namchi. He said that various line departments have been alerted to maintain essential service in and around the polling stations. It may be mentioned here that 2 critical polling stations have been identified out of 14 polling stations and additional security arrangements have been made for them. All the polling parties will assemble at 8 a.m. on 12th September at the distribution centre for collecting polling materials and will be dispatched to the polling stations. At the end of polls, they will again assemble at the Distribution Centre located at DAC Conference Hall.
The RO for the bye elections of 15 Rangang-Yangang has made an appeal to all the eligible voters to come and exercise their franchise to vote and make this exercise of democracy successful. The list of alternate documents that voters are allowed to use on the Poll day is listed as: 1. Passport; 2. Driving License; 3. Service Identity card with photograph of Central/State/PSUs/Public Limited Company; 4. Bank or post office passbook with photograph; 5. Pan Card; 6. Aadhar Card; 7. Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR; 8. MGNREGA Job Card; 9. Health Insurance Smart Card; 10. Pension document with photograph; 11. Authenticated Photo Voters slip
