PHE cleans and plants at Namchi water reservoir complex

NAMCHI, 23 June: Joining the Paryavaran Mahotsav and its expressed aim to develop Sikkim as the Greenest State, the Water Security & Public Health Engineering Department’s Namchi Division today organized a massive cleanliness drive at the town’s water reservoir and at the Department’s office premises. The cleanliness drive was followed by a plantation programme.

This cleanliness drive was led by AE Namchi Sub Division Tara Rai and JE Khamlall Chettri.

The Department’s officers and staff joined the initiative. The AE informs that the recent heavy rainfall has washed down silt-laden water into the reservoir which was drained and cleaned thoroughly today.

More than 150 saplings of flowering and fruit-bearing trees were planted at the office premises.
