ITBP Inspector General calls on Governor

GANGTOK, 09 June: Inspector General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police from North Eastern Frontier Headquarter, Shillong, Raj Kumar Dhiren Singh called on the Governor of Sikkim, Shriniwas Patil at  Raj Bhawan  on 07 June. He was accompanied by DIG, ITBP Sikkim, Raman Khadwal on the occasion.
During interaction, the Governor enquired about the mode of recruitment, training and deployment of ITBP personnel along the Indo-Tibetan Border and sought information about the strength of deployment in Sikkim Sector, informs a press release. The Governor also sought information on logistics, facilities and well being of the personnel posted at the high altitude border posts.
Apprising the Governor about the coordination among various forces such as Army, Air Force and ITBP deployed along the North Eastern Frontier, Mr Singh informed at length about the mode of deployment of personnel. He also apprised about the plan to open new Border Outposts (BOPs) to strengthen the border security of the area, the release mentions.
It may be mentioned that Raj Kumar Dhiren Singh is on a visit to forward areas after assuming the charge of Inspector General of North Eastern Frontier Headquarter, Shillong on 04 March 2014.
