Modi congratulates Chamling

GANGTOK, 21 May [IPR]: Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister designate, congratulated Pawan Chamling, the fifth term Chief Minister of Sikkim today. Mr Modi tweeted, “Congratulations and best wishes to Pawan Chamling on being sworn in as Sikkim CM. We will work together for Sikkim’s progress”.

Hailing Mr. Chamling’s fifth consecutive win, online news portals like Yahoo India News have reported on Mr. Modi’s congratulatory note to him. Mr. Chamling is set to become the longest serving Chief Minister in India, breaking former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu’s record of 23 years, writes the online news portal.
