1,411 appear for CET

GANGTOK, 19 May: 2,831 aspirants appeared for the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2014 for allotment of State quota seats for medical and engineering colleges for the academic session 2014 conducted on 18 and 19 May at Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School, Gangtok.
An official release informs that the test was conducted “in pursuance of Notification No. GOS/30/SCH/HRDD/2013-0813 dated 05/12/2013 by which the State Government had notified that for allotment of State quota seats for the academic session 2014, CET would be conducted”.
Applications for the Common Entrance Test were done through online registration from 01 to 30 April 2014. Altogether 1,411 registrations were recorded online out of which 1,278 candidates appeared for Physics and Chemistry, 593 for Mathematics and 960 for Biology.
The release informs that Vide Office Order No. 205/GEN/DOP dated 17/05/2014 issued by DOPART the Secretary, Sikkim Housing Development Board, Gangtok was nominated by the government as independent Observer for conduct of the test.
The Department has placed on record its appreciation to all the candidates who appeared for the test with discipline and also to the Centre Superintendent and all the invigilators for their effort in smooth conduct of the test.
