Around 9,000 to vote through postal ballot

GANGTOK, 20 Mar: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), D Anandan has stated that approximately 9,000 government employees including police personnel will vote through postal ballot for the upcoming elections.
The CEO told reporters today that 3,500 government employees, 538 taxi drivers and another 5,000 Sikkim Police personnel deployed across the state will apply for postal ballot.
“We have already issued the forms to all employees who will not be able to make it to their respective booths due to election duty,” he stated.
He added here that another 680 voters will also vote through postal ballot on 12 April.

“The ballot paper has to be printed and we already have the envelopes ready. Every employee including those in reserve will all vote through postal ballot and this number might increase,” he explained.
