SDF Chelis from Dzongu pledge support to party

MANGAN, 31 Jan: “The chelis of Dzongu should be united for the development of Dzongu as we have been given special priority by the SDF government under the aegis of party president, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling,” said North Zilla Adhakshya, Anguli Lepcha, while addressing the women of Dzongu constituency here at Namprikdang ground in Upper Dzongu on Thursday in a constituency level meeting.
“Our only mission is the victory of SDF in the upcoming 2014 election and it’s the responsibility of all chelis,” she added.
She further highlighted that women in the state were backward and suppressed in the past but now they are no longer oppressed and can contribute to the society in various aspects of development. Ms Lepcha also pointed out that various facilities for women are being provided by the SDF government in terms of reservation, proper health care, education etc and further appealed to all women of Dzongu to help underprivileged women. She also urged the women wings of Dzongu to conduct ward and GPU level meetings.
Similarly, Cheli vice convenor, North, Dawa Phuti Lepcha informed that the Chelis should be the main pillar of the SDF party in the upcoming election. “We should show our gratitude to party with our unconditional support for everything we have been given”, she said. She also highlighted the different schemes and development being provided by the government.
Likewise, Zilla member, Tingvong GPU, Chungden Lepcha highlighted the demand for the construction of mobile tower in Dzongu while Member Primitive Tribe Welfare Board, Phurmit Lepcha highlighted about the different facilities under Primitive Tribe Welfare Board and urged the people to obtain the primitive tribe certificate as soon as possible.
Earlier, the function was welcomed by Panchayat President, Saffo-Passingdang GPU, Pema Lhamu Bhutia and ended with vote of thanks by constituency convenor, Lhakit Lepcha.
A three-km rally was also conducted to show the chelis’ solidarity to the party from Namprikdang ground to Lingdong village.
Also present in the meeting were district convenor, Khimoo Lepcha, zilla and panchayat members and women from the different GPUs of Dzongu.
