SSP welcomes resolutions passed at BL convention

GANGTOK, 09 Dec: The Sikkim Sangram Parishad has “whole heartedly” welcomed the resolutions adopted at the convention organized by Bhutia Lepcha Protection Force on 08 December.
In a press release, the party has also expressed shock over the absence of all the 13 MLAs from the BL community from the convention despite being invited by the BLPF.
SSP has welcomed the resolution regarding seat reservation for Nepali community in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly and has stated that the majority community should also come forward to support their minority brethren Bhutia Lepcha, who, the release contends, are not secure under the SDF government.
The party has lauded SIBLAC and BLPF for speaking out not only for their own interests but also for adopting resolutions for other communities. The SSP has been advocating all the above mentioned issues at the national level from the time it was in power, the release mentions.
The party will pass all the resolutions and pressurize the Union Government to keep the spirit of the merger alive and not dilute the special provisions provided under Article 371 F of the Constitution based on the 8th May, 1973 Tripartite Agreement, the release further states.
