Disappointed by unmoved Govt and biased media, SPLP to shift hunger strike to Delhi

GANGTOK, 29 Nov: Roshan Rai, the president of Sikkim People’s Liberal Party, who has reportedly been on an indefinite hunger strike outside the East District Administrative Centre here at Sichey, has announced plans of shifting his hunger strike to New Delhi.
According to the party, neither the State government nor the media houses in the state have given them and their demand any attention, due to which they will now approach the Central government directly.
It has been 9 days since Mr. Rai has been on a hunger strike, and according to him, the State administration has not even dispatched any medical personnel for a health check up. According to the party, the response of the State government has been “depressing” which indicates that it does not care. As for the media, he has dismissed it as “biased” for having ignored his protest.
A delegation of the party is now to head for New Delhi where it will continue the indefinite hunger strike, it is informed. In fact, it is informed that the hunger strike, which till now was being undertaken only by Mr. Rai, will now be joined in by other members of the party as well.
