State constitutes Board to oversee NEQIP for ATTC

GANGTOK, 10 Nov: The State government has constituted a Board of Governors for implementation and monitoring of North East Quality Improvement Programme [NEQIP] for Advanced Technical Training Centre (ATTC), Bardang, East Sikkim.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has undertaken a Rs 180 crore project for infrastructure development, strengthening faculty competence and improving the academic scenario of the technical institutions approved by the council in the northeast.
AICTE-approved degree engineering institutions and engineering polytechnics that fulfill the conditions laid down by the AICTE will receive a grant of Rs 7 crore and Rs 5 crore each, respectively, under the project, called the North East Quality Improvement Programme (NEQIP). Moreover, selected AICTE-approved university departments will also receive a grant of Rs 7 crore each.
The objective is to strengthen the institutions in terms of infrastructure, quality of teaching, academics, research and consultancy to improve learning outcomes and employability of the students.
As per AICTE guidelines the Institutional Development Proposal (IDP) for the Rs 5 crore grant that ATTC is seeking should include a government notification constituting a Board of Governors which will oversee and monitor the implementation of the programme.

Barfungpa, Vice-Principal, ATTC, Tenzing Dorjee Pradhan, Lecturer, ATTC, Representative of AICTE, New Delhi are members and Retd. Group Cpt. S. Purkayastha as Member Secretary Principal, ATTC.
