SDF president, Pawan Chamling urges individual responsibility amongst its workers

GANGTOK, 16 Feb: Sikkim Democratic Front president, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling convened a meeting with the executive and other members of the party at the SDF headquarter here at Indira Bye Pass on Thursday.
An SDF press release issued by general secretary [publicity], TN Sharma, informs that while addressing the meeting, the party president informed that Rs 1200 crore has been sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s Package and NDRF to rebuild the State for the damages caused by the earthquake.
The party president said that using the sanctioned fund is not an easy job since the people involved in carrying this out have to be responsible and sincere. He further directed that MLAs, local unit representatives and SDF party workers should work together to ensure better work. He also stressed that every party worker and people’s representative should be responsible in carrying out good work.
“Every party worker should take responsibility of the party’s policies and programmes and should take every problem of the state as their own problem,” the party president said. He stressed that people should not be dependent on others as it kills the productiveness and creativeness of the person, the release mentions.
Mr Chamling mentioned that middlemen and the ‘commission’ trend will lead the society to the wrong direction and have a negative effect on the young generation, so such practice should not be encouraged. On the same, he highlighted that to discourage such a trend the state government has started to give work of upto Rs 2 crore directly to cooperatives and work of more than that amount through e-tender.
“Every party worker should take up the challenge of making the youth self-reliant, capable and prepared for the future to build a strong human resource in the state,” he stressed.
He also mentioned that if people get disheartened then the party worker or Panchayat or MLA of the respective place would be responsible and not the party president, the release informs. The party president encouraged the party workers to come together for the successful conduct of the second decadal Maha Adhiveshan of the party on 03 and 04 March. He also announced that the Maha Adhiveshan would take decisions on future work for the next 20 years.
He further urged that deserving candidates should be chosen for the upcoming Panchayat elections in the state and suggested to the party workers to interact with the educated youth in order to encourage them towards taking responsibility for the State’s future, the release further adds.
