GANGTOK, 12 Feb: Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad Party has alleged that the doctorate degree conferred on the Chief Minister by Sikkim Manipal University does not carry any merit.
A press release issued by the SHRPP general secretary, Tara Shrestha states that the party already had doubts on the degree presented to the CM. Even Prime Ministers and CMs of different states in the country have been presented with such degrees but no one has ever used the title ‘Dr’ with their names, the release mentions.
On the same, the party has expressed dissatisfaction with the use of the title by the CM which features in various public properties and government documents and demands the removal of the title from all such places and government documents at the earliest.
