3 killed due to falls from height


GANGTOK, 10 Feb: Three people have been killed in the past 24 hours after having fallen from heights in different parts of the state. In Kaluk, West District, a 47 year old man, Naresh Gurung of Ahal Goan, Dentam succumbed to injuries sustained in a fall when he was returning home from a visit to his brother at Begha Busty. He is reported to have fallen off the cliff about 300 feet at Begha Khola and drowned in the river. The incident took place in the evening of 8 February and his body was found by his relatives the next morning.
At Namchi 26 year old Anil Rai of Boomtar reportedly died after a fatal fall. He worked as a domestic servant at Boomtar and on the night of 8 February was returning to his room after having attended a marriage party. He, too, was found lying dead the next morning at Old Children’s Park Housing Colony, Boomtar, Namchi. According to police reports, he is suspected to have suffered a fatal fall.
The third incident of a fatal fall occurred in Singtam police jurisdiction where 55 year old Passang Sherpa fell into the Rangrang khola on 8 February. The deceases was a resident of Nepal and presently residing at Middle Kambal, Makha and had gone missing since noon of 8 February. He was found by his relatives the next day at Rangrang Khola and suspected to have suffered fatal  head injuries sustained due to the fall.
