Winter school camp on ‘Positive thinking’ held at Sumbuk


GANGTOK, 02 Jan: A five-day winter school camp with the theme ‘Positive thinking’ was conducted by Youth Empowerment wing of Melli Constituency Development Committee (MCDC) under the initiative of President of Youth Empowerment wing of MCDC, Suren Mohra and funded by 24 Lungchok- Kamery and 25 Sumbuk-Kartikey Gram Panchayat Units from 26-30 December at Sumbuk Block Administrative Centre.

The camp was attended by 70 youngsters from various villages under the constituency and four representatives from Gangtok, informs a press release.  The Camp was inaugurated by Zilla Panchayat member of Sumbuk-Lungchok territorial constituency, Lalit Rai on 26 Dec. In his address, Mr Rai said that positivity is the only key to success in all activities of life and added that such a camp would mould the youth towards positive thinking and attitude.
During the inaugural function Suren Mohra, highlighted on the course of the camp and informed that this is the third consecutive year that the Youth empowerment wing of MCDC is conducting this camp under the guidance of MLA Melli constituency, Tulshi Devi Rai. The outcome of the previous camps have been positive and encouraged us to conduct such camps again, he added.
Sessions on life skills education, career counseling, moral values, traditions and customs were held during the camp with each session followed by group exercise and presentations by the participants, the release informs.
On the final day of the camp Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Bimal Rai was present as the chief guest while JD Agriculture, Sankit Lepcha was present as the special guest. During the closing ceremony Suren Mohra presented the report of the camp.
The release further mentions that Diksha Chhetri of Gangtok was selected as the ‘All Rounder Camper’, Sriya Lepcha and Rajen Chhetri as the ‘Best Camper’ in the girls and boys categories respectively while Anusha Pradhan was awarded the most disciplined award. All participants were awarded certificates at the closing ceremony.
